Wild Flower Meadows

The Council are once again planting wildflower meadows at Hiltingbury and Fryern, despite following RHS guidelines on establishing these meadows, last year we learned just how many weed seeds there are in the Recreation Grounds. So, going forwards for the next few years we are taking a much more aggressive approach in the overseeding.  And we are being rewarded.

The wildflowers are beginning to bloom for this year and we are enjoying the photos shared on social media.  We appreciate your support maintaining these meadows and protecting them.  The increase in wildlife is just wonderful to see and it's thanks to your support that we are able to continue planting each year.

Please keep sharing your photos as we love to see the changing colours.
